After the primaries I reached out to all candidates for Governor, LT. Governor, and Attorney General. I reached out to 7 candidates from all parties running and only 1 responded. On July 21, 2021 I sat down and I had a great 1 one 1 conversation with candidate for governor Princess Blanding (L). First we started of with a little background information. Princess is native New Yorker who is seeking change after the murder of her brother who was shot and killed by Richmond police. Which led to our first topic about her plans to deal with racial injustice. She said "there is such thing to make legislation to make a racist not a racist, it needs to come from more of a community based efforts." In the past year we have seen a great increase in teachers retirement and resignation sense COVID-19 and also the lack of pay for teachers. Princess said "She is a huge supporter of raising the teacher pay and as governor she would work to raise the teacher pay. In our last topic of the conversation I asked about her stance on gun rights she said" I'm supporter of gun rights" with this she talked about how growing up in New York as mother, and that everyone has the right to carry but she did say there need to be universal background.
This was a very deep conversation about real issues in VA that need action. Do you think Princess is the person for the job?
